The fan was fitted before I did this mod. To put some heat sink grease between the transsistor & the heat sink. Here you can see I have soldered the transistor onto the wires & mounted it at the back of the radio using one of the heat sink mounting screws, you will need to Below is the inside my radio, you can see that I have removed the transistor TIP 36c & soldered 3 wires (yellow/red/black) to the board. So I replaced it & the other transistors & voltage regulator, why, well they were all bolted to the same bit of aluminium that the TIP 36c was bolted to, so that they could beĭamaged as well, the cost about £6.00 for the lot. If you are here reading this then you may have had the same problems that I had with my CRE 8900 CB radio getting very hot, in fact mine got that hot it burnt out the If you do not want to do this mod then do not buy any radios made by CRE
